Silicon Photonics 25-75 Waveguide Splitter

In this example, we examine a waveguide coupler that splits an incoming TE0 mode into 2 TE0 modes with an unequal power distribution, a ratio of 1 to 3. The merit function is power propagating into the desired output modes. The merit function will be highest if there is zero reflection, all power is transmitted into the output waveguide modes and the relative coupling efficiency into each output TE0 mode is 25% and 75%, respectively.
